Sheriff Sales

he Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office staff sets foreclosure sale dates for foreclosed homes throughout Ashtabula County. The staff works closely with the courts and law firms throughout the entire sale process. 

Basic Information

All sales are pursuant to the provisions of the Ohio Revised Code. Sheriff Sales are held on the first Monday of every month at 10 a.m. on Real Auction.com. Please see the link below. Sales are not held on federal holidays. In the event of a holiday, the sale will be scheduled for the following week. The last Monday of each month is reserved as a provisional sale date. If a property does not sell at its originally scheduled sale, it will be offered again on the last Monday of the month, with no minimum bid. If a holiday falls on the last Monday of the month, the sale will be scheduled for the previous week.

All properties are advertised in the Gazette Newspapers for three consecutive weeks, with the first ad running six weeks prior to the sale date. This is your legal source of information. The information on this website is a courtesy and should be verified by the legal advertisement.  

Upcoming Sheriff Sales

Beginning on September 1, 2022 all sheriff sales will be on-line pursuant to a mandate by the State of Ohio. These sales will be conducted by Real Auction.  On September 1, 2022 you will be able to access the website for Real Auction and register to bid for the upcoming sale. Terms of Sale

All bids begin at 2/3 of the appraised value of the property, unless otherwise directed by court order. If you are the successful bidder, you are required to complete a Real Estate Judicial Sale Purchaser Information Form at the completion of the sale as well as provide a valid form of identification.  The unpaid balance is due by bank cashier's check and payable to the Sheriff within 30 days of the sale. Please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope at this time as well so your deed can be mailed to you.

Tax Sales

Tax Foreclosure Sales will remain in person and will be held in the county courthouse, 25 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, OH 44047 at 10am on the first Friday of the month . If the property does not sell at the first sale, it will be offered again at the second sale. The minimum bid is determined by the amount of the delinquent taxes plus all court costs. Purchasers are required to tender payment in full, in the form of a cashier’s check, by 3 p.m. the day of the sale. Purchasers are also required to complete a Real Estate Judicial Sale Purchaser Information Form at the completion of the sale, as well as provide a valid form of identification.
