The Ashtabula County Law Library is an approved education provider by the Ohio Secretary of State for individuals wanting to become a notary public and for those renewing their commission. The library will offer the required 1-hour & 3-hour education requirements as well as the testing for new applicants. These classes will be offered on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. in person (limited seats) at the Ashtabula County Complex located at 25 W. Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio 44047 and also via a virtual classroom. Advanced registration is required! In September 2019 the laws concerning notary public changed and all new applications and renewals are handled by the secretary of state’s office. For more information see https://www.sos.state.oh.us/notary/
Please note the education certificate is valid for up to 12 months prior to filing the application and the required BCI background report can be obtained up to 6 months prior to submitting your notary application.
